Curtis (Frances Greely) is born in Boston.

Frances Curtis attends Miss Shaw and Miss Hersey’s School, Radcliffe College, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. She is elected to the Boston School Committee in 1912, is appointed to the boards of the Associated Charities of Boston and State Board of Charities, runs for mayor in 1925,* and subsequently serves on the board of a number of other civic, educational, and charitable organizations. Of Greeley, Mark DeWolfe Howe later asks, “Who deserves more the title of ‘First Woman Citizen?'” She dies in 1957.
